US DoD increases order for Avon's M50 gas mask

The US Department of Defense (DoD) has increased its order for M50 JSGPM gas masks from Avon Protection under its existing 10 year sole source requirements contract, valued at approximately $19m (for delivery in its 2012 financial year).

The award is in addition to the 100,000 mask systems per annum which the respiratory protection systems provider currently supplies under the fixed portion of the full rate production contract.

Avon has already delivered over 600,000 mask systems to the DoD under this contract. The M50 JSGPM mask will be delivered in time to replace all existing masks within the four services of the US armed forces.
