Fra Angelico delivers CBRN decontamination interim upgrade
At the core of the upgrade is Cristanini’s multifunctional Sanijetgun and their universal decontaminant BX24.
The combination of the two is designed to improve speed into action and reduce the physiological burden on the operator, with BX24 bringing substantial logistic advantages in terms of less surface space, volume and weight, both for storage and transportation, and more crucially, on deployment.
The Sanijetgun (above) delivers a radical and yet highly effective decontamination solution. Its cartridge mounted on top of the gun, contains the universal decontaminant BX24 which mixes automatically with water, when triggered by the operator. It not only decontaminates but detoxifies chemical and biological agents, while polarizing radiological particulate. The gun has three independent nozzles, easily adjusted by the operator on the gun itself, dependent on which phase of decontamination is being conducted. So in the same way that an individual will adjust a weapon from ‘safety catch on’, to single shot to automatic fire, the Sanijetgun Operator can immediately adjust from application of low pressure water, then switch to application of decontaminant and then switch again to high pressure rinse.
Fra Angelico has also delivered its ‘Train the Trainer’ package and will continue to deliver through-life support.
Referring to the recent CBRN Contract, managing director of Fra Angelico Ltd, Mrs Elide Hodgson said: “Through the supply of our Cristanini equipment and products along with our globally-recognised commitment to training and service, Fra Angelico provides excellent overall value for our customers.
"In this case, the Armed Forces now has an enhanced capability that reduces the logistic footprint, reduces the physiological burden on the operator and delivers multi-functional decontamination solutions faster than ever before. We greatly look forward to continuing our support for the Armed Forces in the future.”
Fra Angelico continues to maintain its working relationship with the MoD whilst broadening the range and variety of equipment supplied to date which now includes CBRN decontamination products, food components for 24- hour and 10-man operational ration packs, field accommodation, free standing and cot mounted mosquito nets.
