The new custom-built facility will double the company’s manufacturing footprint in the UK, significantly expanding its capabilities and capacity. It will also enhance its cleanroom areas, engineering laboratories and testing facilities, positioning Filtronic for continued growth and innovation.

This latest investment by Filtronic is part of a series of significant moves aimed at expanding capability and capacity in the UK. These efforts are designed to solidify Filtronic’s position as a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance mmWave technologies. As a pioneer in high-frequency RF communications, Filtronic’s new site will play a crucial role in advancing the next generation of wireless communication and technology.

Filtronic has recently launched a range of high-profile, innovative products designed for dynamic sectors such as space and defence. Other recent investments by Filtronic include the introduction of cutting-edge plastic encapsulation technology, enhancing their hybrid manufacturing capabilities for fully moulded plastic packaging of RF components. Additionally, the company has expanded its production lines and been actively recruiting engineering and operational roles to fulfil its expanding order book and opportunity pipeline. These strategic moves further strengthen Filtronic’s competitive edge and support its ongoing growth and innovation.

In April 2024, Filtronic entered into a strategic partnership and commercial agreement with SpaceX, which includes the ongoing supply of E-band solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), alongside collaborative efforts in developing and delivering comparable products across multiple frequency bands core to SpaceX’s Starlink platform.

“The new facility’s increased production space and enhanced testing facilities will enable Filtronic to continue developing the next generation of innovative products — something that led to the business being awarded a King’s Award for Innovation earlier this year,” commented Nat Edington, CEO at Filtronic. “One of our values is to strive for excellence and the additional space, along with the expansion of our team, will certainly help us achieve this.”

Filtronic will relocate to its new site in early 2025.
