Two new Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioners appointed

Deputy Assistant Commissioners Barbara Gray and Matt Twist will join the Met’s Management Board after being appointed as Assistant Commissioners.

DAC Gray will become the Assistant Commissioner for Professionalism while DAC Twist will become the Assistant Commissioner for Met Operations on a long-term temporary basis.

Professor Lawrence Sherman will also join the Met as its first Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and advisor to the Board. Professor Sherman will provide independent and expert advice on science, technology and research methods to inform decision making across the Met.

The Management Board will play a key role in taking forward the ambitious reforms set out by Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley as the Met works to deliver more trust, less crime and high standards for Londoners.

Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe will move from her current role leading Met Operations to take on responsibility for Frontline Policing.

Assistant Commissioner Matt Jukes will continue as Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations (ACSO).

Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said: “I’m excited to make these senior appointments to my new leadership team, and look forward to working with them all in their new roles. We are finalising the details of their portfolios and wider Management Board roles, and will be able to provide a fuller update in the next few weeks.”

The Chief Scientific Officer will start on 1 October, and the Assistant Commissioner appointments will start from 10 October.
