Tekever and Sapient Perception to explore airborne ISR sensing integration

Tekever and Sapient Perception have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the integration and evaluation of Sapient Perception’s 10K camera system on Tekever uncrewed aerial systems.

The initial work will focus on assessing the integration of Sapient Perception’s advanced imaging and edge AI technology with selected Tekever platforms, including mechanical, electrical, software and data interface evaluation.

The collaboration is expected to include flight testing and operational validation at Tekever’s West Wales Airport facility, with a focus on understanding how ultra-high-resolution wide-area sensing can enhance airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

Sapient Perception’s 10K sensors are designed to remove the traditional trade-off between coverage and resolution, enabling operators to monitor much larger areas while retaining the detail needed to detect, classify and track objects of interest. Its IGNITE AI framework processes intelligence directly at the edge, supporting faster decision-making in mission-critical environments.

For Tekever, the collaboration supports its continued focus on AI-centric autonomous systems and scalable ISR operations across defence, security, maritime surveillance, border protection, critical infrastructure monitoring and search and rescue.

Mark Baxter, Senior Business Development Manager at Tekever, said: “This MoU gives us a clear framework to assess how Sapient Perception’s sensor technology could complement Tekever’s operationally proven uncrewed systems. Wide-area perception and onboard intelligence are increasingly important to the future of ISR, and we look forward to exploring the potential of this capability through testing and evaluation.”

Michael Messerschmidt, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer at Sapient Perception, said: “Tekever is an ideal partner for evaluating our 10K camera system in demanding operational UAS environments. Our sensors are built to give operators greater coverage, better resolution and actionable intelligence, and this collaboration is an important step in demonstrating that value on advanced airborne platforms.”
