Smiths Detection to replace Swiss handheld chemical detectors

Smiths Detection today announced that they will manufacture and deliver up to 1,050 Lightweight Chemical Detectors (LCD) to the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport to replace the existing fleet of personal chemical detectors.

LCD is a rugged, reliable person worn Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) and chemical-warfare agent (CWA) identifier and detector.

It is the most widely deployed personal chemical detector used by CBRNe and HAZMAT operators across the globe. The detector provides a lifesaving warning to personnel who deploy into high threat environments and warning of toxic threats to the civilian population.
