The SDSC-UK 2024 Conference takes place on the final day of the Specialist Defence & Security Convention UK (SDSC-UK) – with its new three day format on 18th, 19th and 20th November 2024 – which serves as the UK’s only dedicated event aimed at the Specialist User community and those that serve them.

Supported by UK MoD Strategic Command (UKStratCom), Defence, Equipment and Support (DE&S), Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA), Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and US Army Futures Command/DEVCOM, US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), US Army Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) and USSOCOM’s own innovation incubator SOFWERX, the event brings together strategic decision-makers from military, industry, government agencies and academia, as well as dedicated professionals who support the development of the industry.

SDSC-UK 2024 Conference Speakers

The Compere for the SDSC-UK 2024 Conference on Wednesday 20th November will be Major General (Retired) Robin Anderton-Brown, formerly Director of Capability, UK MoD Strategic Command, who has supported the event since its inception in 2017.

To Chair the prestigious panels, Robin will be joined by:

  • Major General (Retired) John Collyer CB
  • Joe Robinson, President: Technology and Digital, Ocean Infinity
  • Jez Holmes OBE, Air Cdre (Retired), Managing Director, Raven Innovation Ltd – Technology, Futures and Strategy Consultancy

The SDSC-UK 2024 Conference focuses on the Strategic Defence Review (SDR), directed by the new Government. The SDR will determine the roles, capability and reforms required by UK Defence to meet the challenges, threats and opportunities of the twenty-first century, deliverable and affordable within the resources available to Defence.

The Conference will explore three areas which are pivotal to this reform:

  • how to acquire, scale and adapt digital capabilities at pace
  • how UK Defence can ensure it is interoperable with its allies including multinational approaches to meeting capability requirements
  • how Defence can recruit and retain the skilled personnel it needs to meet the increased specialisms required to operate and exploit digital capabilities – drawing on conclusions from the Haythornthwaite Review of Armed Forces Incentivisation

Through panel and dedicated sessions, industry and Defence experts will explore these topics and engage with the audience to deepen understanding of the challenge to help identify those areas that will be most impactful for change.

By joining the event you will gain insights from military leadership including UK MoD and US DoD, Government Agencies and industry leaders. Discover how leading experts have found innovative solutions to complex problem sets, hear success stories from preeminent organisations, exchange information and express your views in addressing technical, operational and capability issues and activities in the global Defence community.

This event is unclassified.
