Rheinmetall Electronics UK launches ACE-AR headset at DVD

Rheinmetall Electronics UK has launched the Augmented Combat Environment Augmented Reality (ACE-AR) headset at DVD 2024 being held at UTAC Millbrook.

ACE-AR is a next-generation head-mounted display technology, designed for land domain vehicle crews. It addresses numerous challenges associated with delivering 360-degree situational awareness in confined, space-limited vehicle cabins, whilst minimising eye fatigue and nausea. This solution maintains familiar standard operating procedures and provides a direct view of critical functional safety equipment. At the same time, it intuitively expands the user's situation awareness by additionally delivering extra visual information feeds, including tactical and synthetic information as well as multiple indirect vision camera views.

ACE-AR is also comfortable, it features a high-resolution dual-eye display and the best eye relief in its class. With ultra-low latency and lightweight design, the single focal plane near-eye display demonstrates a proven cognitive response speed advantage of 40%. The headset is optimised for Safe Driver Vision, which is compatible with Rheinmetall’s Trailblazer driver vision system.

Rheinmetall Electronics UK will be showcasing ACE-AR at DVD 2024. Rheinmetall Electronics UK Managing Director, Richard Streeter said: “At a time when Defence is demanding both force multipliers and a reduction in sensor-to-shooter latency, ACE AR’s launch delivers on British Army requirements for an augmented, continuously trained, fully protected and ultimately dominant land force. It should enhance protection from unmanned system threats by enabling increased use of hatches-down operations and can deliver rich onplatform train-as-you-fight simulation and training outcomes. It’s been thrilling to see our product and engineering teams leverage existing UK and NATO investment in state-of-the-art tactical sensors in order to realise this game changer in warfighting.”

Rheinmetall Electronics UK Director of Business Development, Ross Haines said: “ACE AR is aimed at Driver applications presently but REUK and Rheinmetall are validating requirements now for commander use-cases and to deliver specialist operator human-machine interface improvements – ACE ARs’ sophisticated human-centric design means it is the only head-mounted display in class that offers comfortable multiple-hour operation, in a lightweight headpiece and with ease of integration in mind.”

With the focus at DVD on delivering a More Modern, More Lethal and a More Productive Army, Rheinmetall Electronics UK will also be presenting a wide range of its other products, including Trailblazer, Skyranger 35 C-SAT and SHORAD turret and Skyblazer 360 Drone and Air threat detection system.
