Google Streetview goes inside Gatwick

Gatwick Airport has announced that Google Indoor Maps and Indoor Streetview are available for all public areas across both its North and South Terminals, representing the largest implementation in Europe.

Using over 2000 stitched images, Google’s Indoor Streetview of Gatwick enables passengers to take a virtual tour through its check-in areas, departure and arrivals halls, shops and restaurants meaning they can familiarise themselves with the airport before they even step foot inside.

Interactive indoor maps of both Gatwick Terminal floorplans pinpoint key areas of interest including information hubs, charging points, play areas and toilets, helping speed journeys and allowing passengers to make best use of waiting time. As location-aware services, once inside the airport, passengers are able to instantly identify where they are and easily navigate their way around.

Anyone can access these services from desktop browsers, android phones, IOS and tablets by logging onto the Google Maps website – direct link available here – the Google Maps App or via the newly redesigned and responsive Gatwick website.

As part of Gatwick’s £1.2 billion investment programme we’re continually looking to innovate and improve the passenger experience and this latest technological development will make it easier than ever for passengers to make a speedier trip or the most of their time at the airport.”
