Clive Higgins (above), CEO of Leonardo UK, has been elected as ADS' new Vice-President Defence. With an exceptional track record in transforming high-performing organisations, Clive’s deep understanding of the UK’s defence industry will be invaluable in driving forward ADS’ mission to secure UK advantage in an increasingly competitive global environment.
Commenting on the appointment, Higgins stated: “Joining the ADS Board as VP for Defence is a huge privilege and I look forward to building on the fantastic work being delivered to support our sector. Ultimately, defence provides significant jobs, social value and economic value throughout the country. Delivering for ADS defence members – particularly SMEs – is more pivotal than ever to secure UK advantage.”
Higgins succeeds Jeff Lewis, former CEO of Raytheon UK, who served a three year tenure as ADS VP Defence.
Dr Budgie Dhanda MBE (above), cyber security expert at PA Consulting, has been elected to become the new VP for Security and Resilience at ADS.
Dhanda brings extensive experience operating at Board level and significant global practical experience of working in the security domain in the UK, Europe, Middle-East and US. He said: “Having been part of what would become the ADS Security Sector Council since 2005, it is a real privilege to join the ADS Board as VP for Security and Resilience.
"In security, there are a diverse range of companies, from cyber, drone and counter drone, through to man guarding services. This diversity requires recognition and different support, which I look forward to working with Jon and team to provide.”
Dhanda succeeds Michael Clayforth-Carr as VP of Security and Resilience.
David Lockwood (above), President of ADS and CEO of Babcock International, expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointments: "I am delighted to welcome Clive and Budgie to the ADS Board. Their collective expertise, industry knowledge and strategic vision will be instrumental in driving the growth and success of our sectors.
"With their invaluable contributions, our ability to advance the UK's aerospace, defence, security and space industries is strengthened, further cementing the UK’s position as global leader.”
In 2021, ADS reviewed its board and governance structure to strengthen operations and improve organisational transparency. Since completion, the new governance structure has supported ADS to deliver an eight percentage point increase in Net Promoter Score to reach 54 in 2024.
