The annual event will showcase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities for young minds and families alike. STEM in the Park will take place at Memorial Gardens in Crawley town centre on Saturday, 18th May from 11am-4pm.

The STEM Hub will deliver the event, with support from London Gatwick alongside main sponsor, Crawley Borough Council.

Visitors can seize the opportunity to gain career insights and guidance from local employers, including London Gatwick, educational institutions, professional bodies, STEM advocates, and educators. The event will provide valuable insights into potential career paths within STEM, spanning aviation, construction, geoscience, healthcare, and beyond.

London Gatwick will also be exhibiting at the event where children and families can get hands on by using engineering tools to change an airfield light or become structural engineers and build their own bridges.

For more information ahead of the event, visit the STEM Hub website.

Melanie Wrightson, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, London Gatwick said: “It is so fantastic to be part of STEM in the Park for another year. It is vital we support events such as this and continue to build relationships with the local community.

“At London Gatwick, we are passionate about nurturing talent and encouraging young people to consider a career in the aviation sector.”

Louisa Venables, Engineering Support at London Gatwick, said: “London Gatwick is so excited to sponsor and be part of STEM in the Park this year! As an airport, we are dedicated to inspiring younger generations and consequently run a full STEM programme on-site.

“STEM in the Park will provide a brilliant platform for us to reach local communities and generate a greater awareness and excitement about what’s on offer locally within the STEM industries.”

Lisa Wetton, The STEM Hub Corporate Relationship Manager said: "We were thrilled with the fantastic turnout and tremendous success of last year's event, and we're excited to be part of this popular celebration again this year.

No matter your age, it's never too soon or too late to discover the inspiration and wonder of everything STEM in a fun and engaging way. We look forward to welcoming families, young people, exhibitors, and STEM Ambassadors on the day!”

The recent opening of London Gatwick’s on-site STEM centre plays a key role in delivering this target. The bespoke centre offers a hands-on learning space for school children aged 4-18 to explore STEM disciplines and the various airport-related career opportunities available to them.

London Gatwick is investing in its long-term future and its planning application to bring the airport’s existing Northern Runway into routine use, has now entered the examination phase with the Planning Inspectorate. This low-impact plan will improve resilience, reduce delays, and provide a significant boost to the national and regional economy by supporting trade, tourism and new jobs.
