SEA to showcase DECKsim at MITSG

Cohort company SEA has been invited to outline the latest developments in portable training options for Flight Deck Officers (FDOs) at a meeting of the Maritime International Training Support Group (MITSG), to be held as a precursor to the I/ITSEC exhibition in Florida at the end of November.

The MITSG is a 'working group' made up of friendly governments focused on effective and efficient military training that incorporates proven training methods and technologies. Its primary goal is to promote collaborative working relationships that will result in the development of effective training technologies based on sound human performance principles. All participants collectively discuss and exchange information on emerging technologies and their application within training and performance support.

The SEA DECKsim system, already used to train FDOs in the Royal Norwegian Navy, UK Royal Navy and most recently the Royal Australian Navy, replicates flight decks and land-based airfield environments for training FDOs in aircraft handling procedures, in single spot or multi-spot operations.

Latest iterations integrate state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies into the system, with the VR option offering a portable solution, ideal for on board refresher training and re-qualification.

The Royal Norwegian Navy, who have used DECKsim for the past eight years, are among the users now looking to upgrade the capability by incorporating the latest VR and AR technology.

SEA Business Development Executive Andy McGowan says the invitation to present to the MITSG underlines the company’s position as the leading supplier of flight deck training technology. He added:  “We are continually developing DECKsim and integrating the latest VR and AR technology has enhanced its standing as a comprehensive and cost-effective training system that delivers considerable benefit.”
