Ontic will take on the P440/660/880 Primus weather radar system, and the former-BendixKing’s Gold Crown, Multi-Hazard product lines, as well as a range of heat exchangers, valves, actuators and oil coolers for commercial and military customers.

The Primus system consists of numerous components and is used to detect hazardous weather including turbulence and wind-shear. Similarly, the RDR2000/2100 series and gold crown product line assists navigation, communication, radar, and safety systems, enabling ‘air to ground’ and ‘air to air’ communication, identification and navigation. The incorporated ‘multi-hazard’ safety sensors perform TAS (Traffic awareness) or TCAS (Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance) and/or enhanced ground proximity warnings (EGPWS).

All of these systems are used across a range of aircraft, including business jets, single engine aircraft and helicopter markets, which have an active installed base of over 10,000+ platforms.

Gareth Blackbird, Ontic Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Ontic has taken on a number of exclusive license agreements to support existing radar and Nav/Com technology for the aerospace market, positioning the company as a key OEM for existing radar technology.

“All three licenses are testament to our relationship with Honeywell, and will enable Ontic to provide for customers throughout the military and commercial global markets.”

“We have a long-standing relationship with Ontic and they have supported us through various license agreements like this over the years,” said Vipul Gupta, Vice President and General Manager, Avionics, Honeywell Aerospace. “These licensing agreements reinforces the strong partnership we have built, and we are confident they will provide excellent value to our customers.”

Ontic will deliver these latest licenses, along with a range of complementary products to the aftermarket, through its facilities in the US, UK and Singapore and is looking at setting up a radar centre of excellence in Chatsworth, CA. This builds on previous radar programmes within its portfolio, including the Honeywell RDR4A/B, C-130 radar in Chatsworth and the Thales Doppler radar velocity sensor and indicators – D71, D72, D80 and D91 – which are used across platforms including the Tornado, Lynx, Bell 412, Sea King and AS332.

The products will be transitioned to Ontic subject to customary closing conditions.

Ontic is a global aerospace OEM with operations across North America, UK, Europe and Asia, providing complex engineered parts and repair services for established aircraft in the defence and commercial market, delivering a wide variety of critical technologies, including fuel measurement systems, as well as a range of avionics, cockpit instruments and controls.
