Over the past 13 years, QDS has been maintaining the RAAF’s C-130H fleet in Richmond, New South Wales, Australia, with Marshall supporting a variety of MRO and deeper maintenance activities, including structural and avionics repair design, modification and ILS technical support.

Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, comments: “Indonesia is the 32nd country in which Marshall has provided support to the C-130 and this particular contract with QDS is another recent example of us adding value through the provision of specialist design support for the platform. We look forward to continuing our role in Australia and supporting QDS and the Australian Government in preparing the four aircraft for their duties in Indonesia.”

For the C-130H Transfer Program, Marshall will draw on extensive in-service experience, having supported the platform in Australia since May 2000. The company’s knowledge base includes a first-hand understanding of the structural integrity of all aircraft to be transferred. Marshall will provide structural engineering support services during the Transfer Program, with avionics design and other systems support available.

Marshall’s relationship with the C-130 platform and its OEM, Lockheed Martin, dates back to the early 1960s; and in addition to standard MRO and deeper maintenance work the company has performed more than 1,500 modifications and upgrades for over 35 C-130 military and civil operators worldwide.

Fitz-Gerald concludes: “Our selection by QDS to support the Indonesian Transfer Program is further testament to Marshall’s engineering excellence and capabilities, it builds on our long-standing relationship with QDS and is part of the strategic expansion of our international footprint.”
