Flybe appoints Simon McNamara Director of Communications

Flybe today announced the appointment of Simon McNamara as its new Director of Communications reporting direct to Chief Executive Officer, Christine Ourmieres-Widener.

Simon (above) will be the strategic lead for Flybe’s PR and public affairs’ activities and his role will include promoting Flybe’s purpose, vision and strategy, both internally and externally to the investment community, media and politicians.

He will join Flybe at its Exeter HQ later in the year having completed a five-year term as Director General of the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) where he has been responsible for the delivery and implementation of ERA’s work in the field of policy, events and communications. Under his leadership, ERA has been pivotal in highlighting the contribution that regional airlines make to Europe’s economic prosperity and helping to position ERA’s 50+ airline members with politicians and the media.

Mr McNamara has worked in the aviation industry for over 20 years and is a graduate of City University, London, in Aeronautical Engineering. He holds an MSc from Cranfield University in Air Transport Management.
