FIA 2016: Williams bring Formula One tech to aerospace and defence

Williams Advanced Engineering - the engineering services technology business of the Williams Group - has made its Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) debut, showcasing how the company is bringing Formula One derived technology and know-how into the aerospace and defence sectors.


 
The Farnborough International Air Show’s trade event, taking place from 11th-15th July, sees the global aerospace community come together to showcase new products and network. The company is exhibiting at Farnborough for the first time this year and can be found in Hall 3 in the Innovation Zone.

Williams Advanced Engineering is highlighting at Farnborough its capabilities in energy storage solutions via high performance battery technology, and the design and manufacture of high fidelity simulation tools for pilot training – both technologies that have derived from Williams’ expertise in Formula One. At the centre of the Williams display is a Formula E car, where Williams Advanced Engineering supplies the innovative batteries that power the world’s first fully electric racing series.

Williams Advanced Engineering already works with leading aerospace companies such as BAE Systems and Thales on new product development, and will be further expanding its operations in the aerospace and defence sectors to compliment traditional strengths in the automotive and motorsport industries.
