Baines Simmons appoints five new consultants

Baines Simmons, part of the Training & Consultancy division of global aviation services group Air Partner, has appointed five new consultants as it continues to extend and diversify the expertise it can offer its clients.

All of these new additions to the team are based at Baines Simmons’ headquarters at Fairoaks airport and will report directly to Joanne Welland, Practice Director.

Ken Fairbank
Ken offers more than 35 years’ experience in military and commercial flight operations, and has also spent over 12 years as an air accident investigator, specialising in the investigation of operational and human factors. With his diverse experience, Ken offers a practical approach to event investigation, human factors and error management training. Prior to joining Baines Simmons, Ken was a Senior Inspector of Air Accidents (Operations) at the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) of the Department for Transport.

Gareth Watkins
Gareth has over 30 years of airline Maintenance and operational experience, both in the UK and overseas, covering areas including Maintenance Control, Planning, Line and Base Maintenance. Throughout his career, Gareth’s focus has been on operational efficiency safety. Gareth began his career as an airline apprentice and then engineer, before moving into the Maintenance Control sector.

Roy Burden
Roy offers his clients a broad range of experience in airworthiness and airline operations, assisting organisations in their pursuit of excellence. Having spent 27 years working for the UK CAA, Roy has developed an in-depth knowledge of safety performance and threat analysis with a ‘total system’ approach to safety. Most recently, he held the role of Head of Strategy for Organisations at the UK CAA.

Lindsay Griffiths
Lindsay is a highly professional safety and risk management consultant, with a breadth and depth of expertise in the aviation and maritime industries and detailed knowledge of both the commercial and military sectors. Lindsay enjoyed a successful military career as a Fighter Controller in the Royal Navy, before transferring to the Royal Air Force. Lindsay has subsequently held a number of civilian consultancy roles.

Rob Adlam
Robin is a specialist human factors consultant and trainer specialising in the oil and gas industry and other high reliability organisations. He is an accomplished presenter and facilitator with 32 years of experience in the RAF. A member on the Human Factors panel on the International Association of Drilling Contractors board, Robin has been intimately involved in the adoption of Crew Resource Management (CRM) by the oil and gas industry.

Commenting on these new appointments, Joanne Welland, Practice Director at Baines Simmons, said: “I am delighted to have a number of highly credible aviation professionals join the team and am looking forward to seeing how their breadth and depth of skills and experience will strengthen and diversify our range of services.”
